Heater cabinet or nearby surfaces become excessively hot to the touch during operation.

Safety first: Turn off power and gas. Hot surfaces can cause burns and indicate unsafe operation.

• Check clearances: Measure the distance from the heater to walls, fences, and other objects. Ensure it meets or exceeds Thermeau’s minimum clearance requirements.
• Clear obstructions: Remove any items stored near or on top of the heater that could block airflow.
• Inspect intake and exhaust: Make sure louvers and exhaust outlets are unobstructed.
• Internal inspection: After cooling, remove panels and check for missing or damaged insulation inside the cabinet. Replace damaged insulation with approved materials.
• Heat exchanger condition: Excessive flue temperatures from a scaled heat exchanger can overheat the cabinet; schedule professional descaling if suspected.
