AO Smith pool pump leaks at the clear lid on top of the pump strainer basket.

Safety First: Turn OFF power before opening the pump lid.

• Clean sealing surfaces: Remove the lid and O-ring. Clean the groove and mating surface on the pump housing. Remove sand, hair, and debris.
• Inspect O-ring: Check for cracks, flat spots, or stretching. Replace with the correct AO Smith-compatible lid O-ring if damaged.
• Lubricate O-ring: Apply a thin coat of pool-safe silicone lubricant to help the O-ring seat and seal properly.
• Check lid condition: Inspect the lid for warping or cracks. Replace the lid if it does not sit flat or is crazed.
• Reinstall correctly: Tighten the lid hand-tight only. Do not use tools that can overtighten and warp the lid.
