Possible Causes
Debris lodged in impeller causing imbalance, Bent motor shaft, Loose mounting hardware, Misaligned pump and plumbing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF power before touching the pump or plumbing.
- Inspect impeller: Disassemble the wet end and check the impeller for debris or damage. Clean and replace if cracked or missing vanes.
- Check shaft runout: With the impeller removed, slowly rotate the AO Smith motor shaft and observe for wobble. A bent shaft requires motor replacement.
- Secure mounting: Tighten all base bolts and ensure the pump sits flat on the pad. Add vibration pads if needed.
- Align plumbing: Ensure suction and discharge pipes are not forcing the pump into a twisted position. Adjust supports to relieve stress.
