Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This is a potential shock hazard. Turn off the main breaker and do not operate the pump until the fault is identified. If you are not qualified, contact a licensed electrician.
- Inspect for moisture: Remove the motor terminal cover and check for water, condensation, or corrosion on the terminal block. Dry thoroughly and correct any conduit leaks.
- Check conduit and cable: Inspect the electrical conduit from the panel to the pump for cracks or open joints that could allow water ingress. Replace damaged sections.
- Insulation resistance test: With the pump disconnected and power OFF, use a megohmmeter to test insulation resistance between each motor lead and ground. Low resistance indicates a motor winding fault.
- Test GFCI: Use the TEST/RESET buttons on the GFCI breaker or outlet. If it will not reset with the pump disconnected, the GFCI itself may be faulty.
Do not bypass GFCI protection. Replace the AquaFlo motor if insulation resistance is below manufacturer specifications.
