Possible Causes

Shorted IGBT or MOSFET in AquaFlo drive, Shorted motor windings, Damaged output wiring between drive and motor, Incorrectly wired motor leads

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: This fault can indicate serious electrical damage. Turn off and lock out power immediately. Do not repeatedly attempt to start the pump.

  • Inspect motor leads: With power OFF, remove the motor wiring cover and check for pinched or shorted wires between phases or to ground.
  • Test motor windings: Use a multimeter to measure resistance between motor leads and from each lead to ground. Very low resistance or continuity to ground indicates a shorted motor.
  • Check drive for damage: Remove the control cover and visually inspect the power module for burn marks or cracked components.
  • Isolate motor: Disconnect the motor from the drive and attempt to power the drive alone (if AquaFlo procedures allow). If E16 still appears, the drive is faulty.

Short circuit faults typically require replacement of the AquaFlo drive module and/or motor. Contact a professional technician.
