Possible Causes
Shorted AquaFlo motor windings, Damaged power cord or conduit, Water inside motor terminal box, Incorrect wiring causing line-to-line short
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker. Turn off power and lock out the circuit. This condition can present a fire or shock hazard.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the motor terminal cover and check for loose strands, melted insulation, or wires touching the motor frame.
- Check for moisture: Look for water inside the terminal box or conduit. Dry thoroughly and correct any leaks.
- Test motor with meter: With wires disconnected, measure resistance between each motor lead and ground. Any continuity indicates a ground fault and the motor should be replaced.
- Examine breaker and GFCI: If the pump tests good but the breaker still trips with no load, the breaker or GFCI may be faulty and should be replaced by an electrician.
