Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the breaker and verify the pump cannot start automatically. Close isolation valves if present.
- Check for mechanical blockage: Remove the pump lid on the Aquaflow strainer housing. Take out the basket and inspect the impeller area with a flashlight. Remove leaves, stones, or plastic that may be wedged in the impeller.
- Spin the motor shaft: At the rear of the motor, remove the small cap (if present) and try to rotate the shaft with a screwdriver or wrench. It should turn smoothly. If it is stiff or frozen, the motor bearings may be seized.
- Inspect suction and return valves: Ensure suction valves are open and that the skimmer and main drain lines are not blocked. A starved pump can draw excessive current.
- Reset and test: Restore power and attempt a restart. If E02 returns immediately, disconnect the motor leads from the Aquaflow control board and have the motor windings tested with a multimeter (resistance and insulation).
If the motor is seized or windings are shorted, replacement of the motor or complete Aquaflow pump motor assembly is usually required.
