Possible Causes
Pump not primed, Air leak on suction side, Blocked skimmer basket causing loss of prime, Suction valve closed or partially closed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before opening the pump lid or valves.
- Check water level: Ensure the pool water level is at least halfway up the skimmer opening so the skimmer does not draw air.
- Clean baskets: Remove and clean the skimmer basket and the Aquaflow pump strainer basket. Reinstall correctly.
- Prime the pump: Remove the pump lid, fill the strainer housing with water using a bucket or hose, then reinstall the lid ensuring the lid O‑ring is clean and lubricated.
- Inspect suction fittings: Check unions, couplings, and the pump lid O‑ring for cracks or air leaks. Tighten unions and replace worn O‑rings.
Restore power and start the pump. If E09 recurs and the pump loses prime repeatedly, there may be a hidden suction leak or underground line issue requiring professional diagnosis.
