Possible Causes
Failed start capacitor, Loose capacitor connections, Degraded run capacitor, Overheated capacitor from poor ventilation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power and discharge capacitors before handling. Capacitors can retain a dangerous charge.
- Locate capacitor: On Aquaflow single-phase pumps, the start/run capacitor is usually in a metal or plastic can on top or side of the motor.
- Inspect visually: Look for bulging, leaking, or cracked capacitor casing.
- Check connections: Ensure spade terminals are tight and not corroded.
- Replace if suspect: If the capacitor shows damage or tests out of specification (using a capacitance meter), replace it with an Aquaflow-approved capacitor of the same µF rating and voltage.
After replacement, restore power and test. If E15 persists, the motor windings or control board may also be damaged.
