Possible Causes
Worn or cracked mechanical seal faces, Dry running of pump, Incorrect installation of replacement seal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and close valves. Allow the pump to cool before disassembly.
- Disassemble pump: Remove the AquaJet pump housing from the motor to expose the seal plate and impeller. Remove the impeller to access the mechanical seal.
- Inspect seal: Look for cracks, chips, or scoring on the ceramic and carbon faces. Any damage requires replacement.
- Install new seal: Clean the seal seat and install a new AquaJet‑specified mechanical seal, handling the faces carefully and avoiding fingerprints. Follow the orientation shown in the service manual.
- Reassemble and test: Reassemble the pump, prime it, and run while observing for leaks. Do not run the pump dry, as this will quickly damage the new seal.
