Possible Causes

Supply voltage below specification, Loose line or neutral connection at pump terminal block, Undersized extension lead or long cable run causing voltage drop

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the pool pump circuit breaker and verify with a non-contact voltage tester before touching any wiring.

  • Check supply voltage: With a multimeter and power restored, measure voltage at the pump input terminals (L–N). For most AstralPool pumps this should be ~230–240 V AC (or per nameplate). If it is more than ~10% below rating, contact an electrician to correct the supply.
  • Inspect wiring connections: Isolate power again. Remove the pump terminal cover and check that line, neutral and earth conductors are firmly clamped with no discoloration or burning. Tighten loose screws and reassemble.
  • Remove extension leads: If the pump is powered via an extension cord, plug it directly into a dedicated outlet or have a permanent circuit installed. Long, thin extension leads can cause voltage drop and trigger ERR1.
  • Check breaker and GFCI/RCD: Reset any tripped devices. If they trip repeatedly, have an electrician inspect the circuit.

If ERR1 persists with correct voltage at the pump, the internal power board may be faulty and a qualified technician should test and replace it.
