Possible Causes
Blocked skimmer basket, Clogged pump strainer basket, Air leak on suction line, Very dirty filter causing high backpressure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the pump at the breaker before opening any lids or valves.
- Clean skimmer and pump baskets: Remove leaves and debris from all skimmer baskets and the AstralPool pump strainer basket. Ensure the basket is not cracked and seats properly.
- Check water level: Ensure the pool water level is at least halfway up the skimmer opening so the pump does not suck air.
- Inspect for air leaks: With the pump running (after re-energizing), look for air bubbles in the pump lid and at return jets. Common leak points are the pump lid O-ring, suction unions and valve stems. Lubricate the lid O-ring with silicone lubricant and tighten unions.
- Backwash or clean filter: If you have an AstralPool sand or cartridge filter, backwash or clean it to reduce system pressure and improve flow.
If 'LO' persists after restoring normal flow, the flow sensor or pressure switch may be faulty and require replacement.
