• Manually prime the pump: Remove the AstralPool pump lid, fill the strainer housing completely with clean water, reinstall the lid ensuring the O-ring is clean and lubricated, then restart the pump.
• Check suction valves: Confirm that the main drain and skimmer valves are open and that any 3-way valves are correctly positioned.
• Inspect for air leaks: Look for bubbles under the pump lid and at return jets. Tighten suction unions and replace worn O-rings or gaskets.
• Install or check check-valve: If the pump is above water level, ensure there is a functioning check valve on the suction line to prevent drain-back.

If the pump still cannot prime after these steps, the suction line may be blocked or there may be a significant underground leak requiring professional diagnosis.
