Possible Causes
Worn ceramic/carbon seal faces, Running pump dry, Chemical imbalance (low pH) attacking seal components
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and close isolation valves before disassembling the pump. Relieve system pressure.
- Confirm leak location: Dry the area and observe while the pump runs briefly. A leak at the junction between the wet end and motor usually indicates a failed mechanical seal.
- Disassemble wet end: Remove the pump from the plumbing if needed, unbolt the wet end from the motor, and remove the impeller to access the mechanical seal set.
- Replace seal: Install a genuine AstralPool mechanical seal kit, ensuring the ceramic seat is clean and fully seated in the seal plate, and the rotating carbon face is correctly oriented on the shaft.
- Reassemble and test: Reassemble the pump, prime fully, and check for leaks.
