How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the pump before inspection.
- Inspect above-ground joints: Tighten and reseal any threaded fittings on the suction side using appropriate thread sealant.
- Check lid and unions: Replace worn O-rings and ensure all unions are snug.
- Test check valve: If installed, remove and inspect the suction check valve for debris or worn flapper that allows water to drain back.
If the system still drains down and no above-ground leaks are found, an underground suction leak may exist and professional leak detection is recommended.
