Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the pump from mains power and ensure no one can turn it back on while you work. Never open the pump while it is plugged in or running.
- Check for obvious blockage: Close pool valves (if fitted). Remove the pump strainer cover on the Bestway pump housing. Take out the strainer basket and inspect for leaves, stones, or toys. Clear all debris.
- Inspect the impeller: With the basket removed, reach carefully into the wet end (use a non‑metal tool if possible) and try to rotate the impeller. It should turn smoothly with slight resistance. If it is jammed, remove debris. If it feels seized, the motor bearings or shaft may be damaged.
- Check suction and discharge lines: Inspect Bestway hose connections on the suction and return ports for kinks or collapsed hoses. Straighten or replace damaged hoses. Ensure the inlet strainer on the pool wall is not blocked.
- Reset and test: Reassemble the strainer basket and lid, ensuring the lid O‑ring is clean and lubricated with pool‑safe silicone grease. Prime the pump by filling the strainer housing with water. Restore power and try again. If E01 returns immediately, the motor may be drawing excessive current and should be tested or replaced by a qualified technician.
If the error persists after clearing all blockages, discontinue use to avoid motor damage and contact a service professional.
