Possible Causes
Clogged pump strainer basket, Dirty or clogged Bestway cartridge filter, Air leak on suction side hose or fittings, Partially closed or obstructed pool inlet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off and unplug the pump before opening any part of the system.
- Clean the strainer basket: Remove the pump lid on the Bestway pump housing, take out the basket, and rinse it thoroughly with a garden hose. Remove all leaves, hair, and debris.
- Service the filter: If you have a Bestway cartridge filter, open the filter housing, remove the cartridge, and hose it off from top to bottom until water runs clear. Replace the cartridge if the pleats are crushed or heavily stained. For Bestway sand filters, backwash and rinse according to the manual.
- Check for air leaks: Inspect the suction hose from the pool inlet to the pump. Tighten hose clamps, unions, and threaded adapters. Replace cracked Bestway hoses or worn O‑rings on the pump lid and hose adapters. Bubbles in the return flow often indicate a suction leak.
- Verify water level and valves: Ensure the pool water level is above the skimmer or inlet openings. Make sure any inline valves are fully open and that the pool inlet strainers are not blocked by debris.
- Prime the pump: Fill the pump strainer housing with water, reinstall the lid securely, then restore power and restart. Observe the flow; if E02 reappears, recheck for restrictions.
