Pump stops during operation and controller displays E02, will restart after cooling

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before inspecting the pump or plumbing.

• Check water level and skimmer: Ensure the pool water level is at least halfway up the skimmer opening. Low water can cause air ingestion and overheating. Clear any obstructions in the skimmer basket.
• Inspect suction and return valves: Confirm that all valves feeding the Calpeda pump (suction) and returning to the pool are fully open. Partially closed valves reduce flow and increase motor temperature.
• Clean pump basket and prefilter: Remove the pump lid, take out the basket, and clean it thoroughly. Check the inlet and outlet ports inside the pump housing for blockages.
• Check for dry running: After priming, ensure the pump fills completely with water within 1–2 minutes. If it does not, locate and fix suction leaks or obstructions before running the pump again.
• Inspect motor ventilation: Make sure the Calpeda motor cooling fan and ventilation slots are free of dust, leaves, and spider webs. Clean gently with a soft brush and compressed air.
• Allow cooling and reset: Let the motor cool for at least 30 minutes. Restore power and test. If E02 recurs quickly, the motor may have internal thermal damage and should be evaluated by a technician.
