Possible Causes
Leaking foot valve or check valve on Calpeda suction line, Cracked Calpeda pump housing allowing air ingress, Loose drain plug on Calpeda pump body, Worn housing O-ring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and close valves before working on the pump or suction line.
- Inspect pump housing: Check for visible cracks, especially around the drain plug and fittings. Tighten the drain plug and replace its gasket if leaking.
- Check housing O-ring: Open the pump and inspect the main housing O-ring. Replace if flattened or damaged and lubricate lightly with silicone grease.
- Test check/foot valve: If fitted, remove and test the suction check valve or foot valve. It should hold water without leaking back. Replace if it does not seal properly.
- Re-prime and test: Fill the pump housing with water, close the lid, and start the pump. Observe whether it holds prime when stopped. If not, recheck for hidden leaks on the suction side.
