Possible Causes
Welded contacts in Calpeda control box contactor, Faulty run relay on Calpeda controller PCB, Incorrect wiring bypassing stop command, Shorted control wiring causing permanent run signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power at the main breaker before opening the control box. Verify absence of voltage.
- Inspect contactor: Locate the motor contactor in the Calpeda control box. Check if the contacts are welded by attempting to manually operate the contactor with power off. Replace if stuck.
- Check control wiring: Compare wiring to the Calpeda schematic. Look for unauthorized jumpers or miswired terminals that could bypass the stop circuit.
- Test stop circuit: With a multimeter, verify that the stop button and associated wiring correctly open the control circuit when pressed.
- Replace faulty relay/PCB: If the controller output remains energized even when a stop command is given, the internal relay or PCB may be defective and require replacement.
