Calpeda
Loss of Prime / Airlocked Pump
Pump runs but there is no water flow to the pool

Possible Causes
Air leak at Calpeda pump lid O-ring, Suction union O-ring damaged on Calpeda pump, Blocked suction line or skimmer, Pool water level too low for Calpeda pump to draw water
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before opening the pump lid or valves.
- Check pool water level: Ensure the water is at least halfway up the skimmer opening. Top up if necessary.
- Inspect and lubricate lid O-ring: Remove the Calpeda pump lid, clean the O-ring and sealing surface, and apply a thin layer of silicone-based lubricant. Replace a flattened or cracked O-ring.
- Prime the pump: Fill the pump housing completely with water, reinstall the lid tightly, open all valves, and then restart the pump. It should establish full flow within 1–2 minutes.
- Check suction-side leaks: While the pump is trying to prime, look for air bubbles under the lid and listen for hissing at unions and valves. Tighten unions and replace suspect O-rings or gaskets.
- Clear suction obstructions: Clean skimmer and pump baskets. If necessary, use a hose or line blower to clear blockages in the suction line.
