Possible Causes
Blocked ventilation openings on DAB motor housing, High ambient temperature with poor ventilation, Dry running due to loss of prime, Failing motor windings causing excess heat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and allow the motor to cool completely before touching it.
Steps to check:
- Check ventilation: Inspect the DAB motor cooling fins and fan cover. Remove leaves, dust, spider webs, and any obstructions. Ensure at least 30 cm clearance around the motor for airflow.
- Verify water flow: Confirm the pump is fully primed and that suction and return valves are open. A pump running dry or with restricted flow overheats quickly.
- Inspect for dry running causes: Check for air leaks on the suction side (loose unions, cracked suction pipe, perished lid O‑ring). Repair or replace seals as needed.
- Reset and test: After cooling, restore power and clear E03. Monitor the pump for 15–20 minutes. If the motor becomes excessively hot to touch again, stop immediately.
- Persistent E03 with good cooling and flow: Indicates internal motor or thermal sensor damage. Replacement of the motor assembly or DAB motor thermal sensor is recommended.
