Possible Causes

Impeller jammed by debris, Seized motor bearings, Shorted motor windings

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate power at the breaker and lock it out if possible. Confirm the pump cannot start unexpectedly.

  • Check for mechanical blockage: Remove the pump lid on the Emaux pre-filter housing. Take out the strainer basket and inspect for stones, leaves, or plastic obstructing the impeller inlet. Use a flashlight to look into the volute and remove any debris with non-metallic tools.
  • Spin the motor shaft: At the rear of the motor, remove the fan cover (if accessible) and try to rotate the shaft by hand. It should turn smoothly. If it is stiff or seized, the motor bearings are likely failing.
  • Inspect for water leaks: Look around the mechanical seal area between the pump housing and motor. Evidence of water ingress can lead to bearing and winding damage.
  • Retry operation: Reassemble the basket and lid, prime the pump with water, restore power, and start the pump. If E02 reappears immediately, stop and avoid repeated restarts to prevent further damage.

Persistent E02 after clearing obstructions usually indicates a failing motor assembly that should be tested and replaced by a qualified technician.
