Emaux
Loss of Prime / Suction Air Leak
Pump runs but there is no water flow; pump basket does not fill with water and remains mostly full of air.

Possible Causes
Leaking pump lid O‑ring, Loose suction union on Emaux pump housing, Low pool water level allowing air into skimmer
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the pump before opening the lid or unions.
- Check pool water level: Ensure the water level is at least halfway up the skimmer opening so the skimmer does not draw air.
- Inspect and lubricate lid O‑ring: Remove the pump lid, clean the O‑ring and sealing surface, and apply a thin layer of silicone-based lubricant. Replace the O‑ring if cracked or flattened.
- Tighten suction fittings: Hand-tighten the suction-side unions on the Emaux pump. Check any threaded fittings for leaks and reseal with PTFE tape if necessary.
- Prime the pump: Fill the pump strainer housing completely with water, replace the lid, open all valves, and start the pump. It should establish full prime within 1–2 minutes.
If the pump still cannot hold prime, there may be an underground suction leak or internal crack in the pump housing that requires professional inspection.
