Possible Causes
Clogged skimmer basket, Debris lodged in impeller eye, Collapsed flexible suction hose (for above-ground setups)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the pump and close valves before disassembling any plumbing.
- Clean all baskets: Empty the skimmer and pump strainer baskets. Rinse thoroughly to remove fine debris.
- Check suction line: For above-ground pools, inspect flexible hoses for kinks or collapse when the pump is running.
- Inspect impeller: Remove the pump housing cover and visually inspect the impeller eye and vanes. Use a plastic tool to remove hair, seeds, or other debris.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the housing, ensure all unions are tight, prime the pump, and restart. Monitor pressure and flow.
If flow remains weak with clean baskets and impeller, there may be a blockage in the underground suction line that requires professional clearing.
