Possible Causes
Worn ceramic/carbon seal faces, Dry running of pump, Chemical attack from improper water balance
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and close isolation valves. Allow the pump to depressurize before disassembly.
- Confirm leak location: Dry the pump and observe where water first appears. A leak at the motor-pump interface indicates a mechanical seal issue.
- Disassemble wet end: Remove the pump housing and impeller to access the mechanical seal set on the Emaux seal plate and impeller hub.
- Replace seal: Install a new Emaux-compatible mechanical seal, ensuring the ceramic seat is clean and fully seated, and avoid touching seal faces with bare fingers.
- Check motor condition: Inspect the motor front bearing area for rust or water damage; replace the motor if bearings are compromised.
Always replace the mechanical seal whenever the motor or impeller is replaced to prevent future leaks.
