• 1. Inspect water flow path: Close pool valves (if fitted). Remove the pump lid and take out the Flowclear pre-filter basket. Clear leaves, hair, and debris from the basket and from the inlet/outlet ports.
• 2. Check impeller for seizure: With the basket removed, reach in carefully and try to rotate the impeller by hand or with a non-metallic tool. It should turn smoothly. If it is jammed, remove debris (sand, stones, cable ties, etc.). If still stiff, the motor shaft or bearings may be seized.
• 3. Inspect for visible damage: Look for melted plastic, burn marks, or a burnt smell around the motor housing. These signs indicate shorted windings and the motor assembly will likely need replacement.
• 4. Reduce load and retest: Reassemble the basket and lid, ensuring the Flowclear lid O-ring is seated correctly. Open valves, prime the pump with water, then reconnect power and try starting again. If E01 persists with a freely spinning impeller, the motor is likely drawing excessive current and should be replaced.
• 5. When to stop: If the breaker or GFCI trips repeatedly or the pump hums loudly without turning, discontinue use and contact a qualified pool technician or Flowclear support.
