Pump stops shortly after starting and displays E02, or will not start and shows E02 continuously.

Safety first: Unplug the Flowclear pump from the power outlet before inspection. Allow the unit to cool for at least 20–30 minutes if it feels hot.

Steps to resolve:

• 1. Check water prime: Remove the pump lid and verify the housing is full of water. If not, fill the housing with pool water and ensure the suction hose from the Flowclear skimmer or inlet is fully submerged and free of air leaks.
• 2. Inspect cooling vents: Examine the motor housing and base for blocked air vents. Clean away dust, leaves, and cobwebs with a soft brush. Ensure the pump is not covered or enclosed in a tight box.
• 3. Verify water flow: Confirm that the suction and discharge hoses are not kinked or collapsed. Check the Flowclear filter cartridge or sand filter for clogging and backwash or replace as needed to reduce back pressure.
• 4. Improve ventilation: Move the pump to a shaded, well-ventilated area on a firm, dry surface. Avoid direct sun on dark surfaces that can trap heat.
• 5. Retest: After cooling and cleaning, reconnect power and run the pump. If E02 returns quickly even with good water flow and ventilation, the internal thermal protector or motor windings may be failing and the motor assembly should be replaced.
