Possible Causes
Clogged Flowclear filter cartridge or sand filter, Air leak on suction hose or fittings, Blocked skimmer or suction strainer, Faulty in-line flow sensor (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening any part of the hydraulic circuit. Do not run the pump dry.
Steps to improve flow:
- 1. Clean the filter: For Flowclear cartridge filters, remove the cartridge and hose it off thoroughly or replace if heavily soiled. For Flowclear sand filters, perform a full backwash and rinse cycle according to the manual.
- 2. Check suction side: Inspect the suction hose from the pool to the pump for kinks, collapses, or blockages. Ensure hose clamps on the Flowclear hose adapters are tight and that the hose connections are fully seated to prevent air leaks.
- 3. Inspect skimmer and strainers: Empty the Flowclear surface skimmer basket and any in-line strainers. Remove leaves, insects, and toys that may restrict flow.
- 4. Prime the pump: Fill the pump housing with water, reinstall the basket and lid, and ensure the lid O-ring is clean and lubricated with pool-safe silicone grease to prevent air ingress.
- 5. Flow sensor check (if present): Some Flowclear systems include an in-line flow switch. Inspect its wiring and ensure the sensor body is not clogged with debris. If E03 persists with strong visible flow, the flow sensor may be defective and require replacement.
