Possible Causes
Debris jammed in impeller, Rusted or seized motor bearings, Failed start capacitor, Misaligned pump shaft
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the pump immediately to avoid overheating and fire risk.
Steps:
- 1. Check for obstructions: Remove the pump lid and basket. Reach in and attempt to rotate the impeller by hand. Remove any debris (stones, toys, cable ties) that may be jamming it.
- 2. Spin test: If the impeller is very stiff or will not turn even with no debris, the motor bearings may be seized.
- 3. Capacitor check: If the impeller spins freely by hand but not under power, the Flowclear start capacitor may be faulty and should be tested and replaced if necessary.
- 4. Do not force: Do not apply excessive force to the impeller; this can damage the shaft or seal.
- 5. Replace motor: If bearings are seized or the motor overheats quickly, replace the entire Flowclear pump motor assembly.
