Possible Causes
Worn or undersized Flowclear filter cartridge, Channeling in sand filter, Incorrect multiport valve position, Internal filter laterals damaged
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off and unplug the pump before servicing the filter.
Steps:
- 1. Inspect cartridge: For cartridge systems, remove the Flowclear cartridge and check for tears or collapsed pleats. Replace if damaged or old.
- 2. Sand condition: For sand filters, if sand is very old or clumped, consider replacing the sand with the correct Flowclear grade and quantity.
- 3. Valve position: Ensure the Flowclear multiport valve is set to "FILTER" and not "RECIRCULATE" or "WASTE".
- 4. Internal damage: If sand or debris is returning to the pool, internal laterals or standpipe may be cracked and the Flowclear sand filter internal assembly should be replaced.
