Pump will not start, display shows E01 immediately after power-up

Safety first: Turn OFF the pool pump breaker and verify power is off with a meter before touching any wiring. Water and electricity are a lethal combination.

• Verify supply voltage: Using a multimeter, measure line voltage at the Franklin Electric pump control box line terminals (L1/L2 or L1/L2/L3). Compare to the motor nameplate (e.g., 230 V single-phase). If voltage is more than 10% low, correct the supply issue or contact an electrician.
• Inspect wiring connections: Remove the control box cover. Check that all line and load conductors are tight at the terminal block and contactor. Look for discoloration, melted insulation, or corrosion. Tighten loose screws and replace damaged wire.
• Check breaker and GFCI: Reset the pool pump breaker and any GFCI device feeding the Franklin Electric pump. If it trips immediately, there may be a short downstream.
• Confirm correct voltage tap: On dual-voltage Franklin Electric motors, verify the internal wiring or selector is set for the actual supply voltage (e.g., 230 V vs 115 V). Incorrect configuration can trigger low-voltage errors.
• Test again: Restore power and attempt to start the pump. If E01 persists with correct voltage present, the control module may be faulty and should be evaluated by a technician.
