Possible Causes
Low utility voltage at Franklin Electric pump supply, Long cable run with excessive voltage drop, Loose neutral or line connection, Undersized transformer or shared circuit overload
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Work with power off whenever accessing wiring. Use a qualified electrician if you are not experienced.
- Measure supply voltage: With a multimeter, check voltage at the pump control box while the pump is commanded to start. Compare to nameplate. If below minimum, correct the supply issue.
- Inspect connections: Tighten all line and neutral terminals in the disconnect, breaker panel, and Franklin Electric control box.
- Check wire size: Verify that the cable gauge is appropriate for the run length and motor current. Upgrade wiring if voltage drop exceeds Franklin Electric recommendations.
- Reduce circuit load: Ensure the pump is not sharing a circuit with large loads (heaters, other motors) that cause sag. Move loads to separate circuits if needed.
- After corrections: Clear the fault and restart. Persistent E08 with correct voltage suggests a drive sensing issue; replace the drive module.
