Safety first: Turn off power and allow the motor to cool before inspection.

Clean vents: Remove debris, dust, and cobwebs from motor cooling slots and fan shroud.
Check voltage and current: Measure supply voltage and motor current and compare to nameplate. Correct any overvoltage or overload conditions.
Verify speed settings: On variable-speed systems, ensure maximum RPM does not exceed Franklin Electric motor rating.
Improve ventilation: Provide shade and airflow around the motor. Avoid enclosing the pump in a tight box.
