Possible Causes
Loose suction-side fittings on Franklin Electric pump, Worn pump lid O-ring, Air leak at valve stem packing, Cracked suction pipe above waterline
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before tightening fittings.
- Check lid and O-ring: Clean, lubricate, and reseat the pump lid O-ring. Replace if worn.
- Tighten fittings: Hand-tighten suction unions and check valve connections. Do not overtighten plastic fittings.
- Use soapy water test: With the pump running, apply soapy water to suspected joints. Bubbles being drawn in indicate leaks that must be re-glued or replaced.
- Inspect above-ground piping: Look for hairline cracks in suction piping exposed to sun or impact. Replace damaged sections.
