Possible Causes
Tripped breaker or GFCI feeding pump, Loose line wires at Franklin Electric control box, Failed control transformer or low-voltage power supply, Faulty on/off switch or timer contacts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Always turn off the main breaker before opening electrical enclosures.
- Check breakers and GFCI: Reset the pool pump breaker and any GFCI outlets or breakers. If they trip again immediately, there is a fault that must be located.
- Verify line voltage: Use a multimeter to confirm correct voltage at the control box line terminals.
- Inspect internal fuses: Some Franklin Electric controllers have internal fuses for control power. With power off, test and replace any blown fuses with the correct type.
- Bypass external controls: Temporarily bypass external timers or automation (per manual) to see if the pump starts from its local control. Replace faulty timers or switches.
- Replace controller: If line power is present but the controller display is dead and no relays click, the internal power supply has likely failed and the controller should be replaced.
