Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: De-energize the circuit at the breaker and verify with a meter before touching any conductors.
- Confirm nameplate voltage: Check the Harris pump motor nameplate for rated voltage and wiring diagram. Ensure the pump is configured for the actual supply voltage.
- Measure supply voltage: With a multimeter, measure the line voltage at the pump terminals. If it exceeds the rated voltage by more than 10%, contact an electrician or utility provider.
- Verify motor lead configuration: For dual-voltage Harris motors, open the rear wiring compartment and confirm the jumpers or leads are arranged per the diagram for 115V or 230V as appropriate.
- Inspect for incorrect transformer or booster: If the pump is fed through a transformer or booster, verify its output rating and connections.
Do not operate the pump until the overvoltage condition is corrected. Prolonged overvoltage can permanently damage the motor and control module.
