Possible Causes

Moisture inside motor or control housing, Damaged insulation on internal wiring, Water intrusion through conduit, Failing motor windings leaking to ground

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and do not attempt to run the pump until the ground fault is resolved.

  • Inspect for visible moisture: Remove the control and motor covers on the Harris pump and look for water, condensation, or corrosion. Dry components thoroughly and correct any conduit or sealing issues that allowed water in.
  • Check conduit and fittings: Ensure the electrical conduit is properly sealed and slopes away from the motor to prevent water from draining into the housing.
  • Insulation resistance test: Have a qualified technician perform a megohmmeter test between motor windings and ground. Low resistance indicates insulation breakdown and the motor should be replaced.

Do not bypass ground fault protection. Replace the motor or control module if they are the source of leakage.
