Possible Causes

Undersized extension cord or long cable run causing voltage drop, Loose line or neutral connection at pump terminal block, Undervoltage from supply (below 110/220V), Corroded or overheated power plug on PowerFlo pump

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the pool sub‑panel breaker and verify with a non-contact voltage tester before touching any wiring.

  • Check supply voltage: With a multimeter and power on (if you are qualified), measure voltage at the outlet or disconnect feeding the Hayward PowerFlo pump. It should be within 110–125V (for 115V models) or 220–240V (for 230V models). If it is low, contact an electrician or your utility.
  • Eliminate extension cords: Plug the PowerFlo pump directly into a properly grounded outlet. Long, light‑gauge extension cords cause voltage drop and can trigger LO.
  • Inspect plug and cord: With power off, inspect the PowerFlo pump power cord and plug for heat damage, discoloration, or looseness. Replace the cord set if insulation is cracked or plug blades are burnt.
  • Tighten connections: If your PowerFlo is hard‑wired, remove the rear wiring cover, verify that line and neutral (and ground) are firmly secured at the motor terminal block. Tighten any loose screws.
  • Reset controller: If using an external digital timer/controller, power-cycle it (turn breaker off 1 minute, then on) and clear the LO code per its manual. If LO persists with correct voltage, the controller may be faulty.

If you are not comfortable working around live voltage, hire a licensed electrician or pool professional.
