Possible Causes
Failed motor position sensor, Damaged sensor wiring inside motor, Internal drive fault, Excessive electrical noise on supply
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before inspection.
- Reset the pump: Turn off power for 2–3 minutes, then restore and attempt to start the pump.
- Check supply quality: Ensure the pump is on a dedicated circuit with a properly sized breaker. Avoid sharing with large inductive loads that can introduce noise.
- Inspect for moisture and corrosion: Look at the motor/drive interface for signs of water ingress, rust, or damage that could affect internal sensors.
- Internal components: The Hall/position sensors are integrated into the motor/drive assembly on Hayward variable-speed pumps and are not typically field-serviceable. If Er2 recurs, the motor/drive assembly usually must be replaced.
