Possible Causes
Suction-side leak at fittings or valves, Low water level drawing air at skimmer, Loose pump lid, Cracked suction pipe
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before tightening fittings or opening the pump.
- Raise water level: Ensure pool water is high enough to prevent vortexing at the skimmer.
- Check lid and O-ring: Clean, lubricate, and properly seat the pump lid O-ring.
- Tighten fittings: Inspect and tighten all suction-side unions and threaded fittings. Use thread sealant where appropriate.
- Dye test: With the pump running, use a small amount of food coloring near suspected leak points to see if it is drawn in.
- Repair cracks: Any cracked suction piping should be cut out and replaced.
