Possible Causes

Blocked skimmer basket, Blocked pump basket, Blocked Hurlcon pump strainer or volute, Suction line obstruction

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the circuit breaker before opening any part of the pump or plumbing. Never run the pump dry.

  • Check pool water level: Ensure water level is at least halfway up the skimmer opening so the skimmer does not draw air.
  • Clean skimmer basket: Remove the skimmer lid, take out the basket, and clear leaves and debris. Reinstall securely.
  • Clean pump basket: Turn off power, close suction and return valves if fitted, undo the clear pump lid on the Hurlcon pump, remove the basket and clean thoroughly. Check for debris around the impeller eye with a torch.
  • Inspect suction lines: With valves open, check for collapsed hoses, closed valves, or obvious kinks on any flexible suction lines. Open all valves fully.
  • Prime the pump: Fill the pump basket housing with clean water, refit the lid with the O-ring clean and lubricated, then restore power and try to start again.

If F1 persists and there is still no flow visible in the pump lid, have a technician check for internal blockages in the Hurlcon wet end or suction plumbing.
