Possible Causes

Seized Hurlcon motor bearings, Foreign object jammed in impeller, Severe corrosion on shaft, Water ingress into motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off and lock out power before touching the motor or opening the pump.

  • Check impeller rotation: Remove the pump lid and basket. Try to spin the impeller with a finger or tool. It should move freely. If it is locked, the pump must be dismantled.
  • Inspect for debris: Look for stones, tiles, or plastic lodged in the impeller vanes. Remove any obstructions carefully.
  • Check rear shaft: At the back of the motor, try to rotate the shaft or fan by hand. Grinding or no movement indicates bearing failure.

If the rotor is seized, the motor will need bearing replacement or full motor replacement. This is typically beyond DIY and should be handled by a pump repair specialist.
