Possible Causes

Air leak on suction side, Low pool water level, Blocked suction line, Pump installed above water level without proper priming

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power before opening the pump lid.

  • Check water level: Ensure pool water is at least halfway up the skimmer opening.
  • Clean baskets: Empty skimmer and Hurlcon pump baskets.
  • Prime pump: Remove pump lid, fill the housing completely with water, lubricate and refit the lid O-ring, then restart the pump.
  • Inspect for air leaks: Look for bubbles under the lid and water drips at unions. Tighten fittings and replace any cracked fittings or O-rings.

If the pump still will not prime, the suction line may be blocked or leaking underground and will require professional diagnosis.
