Possible Causes
Broken flow sensor cable, Corroded sensor connector, Internal short in flow sensor, Damaged control board sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the pump before handling wiring or sensors.
- Inspect cable: Follow the flow sensor cable from the sensor body to the control panel. Look for cuts, abrasions, or crushed sections.
- Check connector: Disconnect and reconnect the sensor plug at the control board, ensuring a snug fit. Clean any corrosion with contact cleaner and allow to dry.
- Continuity test (if you have a meter): With the sensor disconnected and pump unplugged, test continuity of the sensor leads. An open or shorted reading indicates a bad sensor.
- Replace flow sensor: Install a new Intex flow sensor assembly if the cable or sensor is damaged.
- Board check: If a known-good sensor still triggers E12, the control board's sensor input is likely damaged and the control panel PCB must be replaced.
