Possible Causes
Undervoltage from mains supply, Loose power cord connection, Faulty internal power supply on control board, Damaged power cord
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the pump from power before inspecting the cord or opening any covers.
- Check outlet voltage: Ensure the outlet provides the correct voltage for your region (typically 120V in North America, 220–240V in many other regions). Avoid using long or undersized extension cords.
- Inspect power cord: Look for cuts, kinks, burn marks, or crushed sections on the Intex power cord and GFCI plug (if equipped). If the GFCI plug feels hot or trips frequently, it may be failing.
- Test GFCI: Press the RESET button on the GFCI plug. Then press TEST and confirm it trips. Reset again and try to start the pump. Replace the cord set if the GFCI will not reset or behaves erratically.
- Try a different outlet: Plug the pump directly into a different, properly grounded outlet with no adapters or power strips.
- Internal board check: If the outlet and cord are good but E91 persists, the internal low-voltage power supply on the control board may be defective. This typically requires replacing the control panel PCB or motor control board.
