Possible Causes
Seized pump impeller, Blocked pump housing, Shorted motor windings, Failing motor capacitor (on capacitor-start models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the pump and close any shutoff valves before opening the pump housing. Relieve system pressure.
- Check for mechanical blockage: Remove the pump strainer cover and basket. Inspect the impeller area for debris (stones, leaves, toys) that may be jamming the impeller. Remove any obstructions.
- Spin the impeller: With the pump open and power disconnected, gently try to spin the impeller by hand. It should turn smoothly. If it is stiff or seized, the motor bearings or shaft seal may have failed.
- Clean and reassemble: Clean the strainer basket and housing, reassemble, and prime the pump according to the Intex manual. Try running again.
- Motor evaluation: If E95 returns immediately and the impeller spins freely by hand, the motor windings or capacitor may be failing. At this point, replacing the complete pump motor assembly is usually more economical than motor-only repair on Intex units.
