Possible Causes
Loose hose clamps on suction side, Damaged or missing pump lid O-ring, Cracked suction hose, Low pool water level drawing air at skimmer
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the pump before tightening fittings or opening the pump lid.
- Check water level: Ensure the pool water level is at least halfway up the skimmer opening or above the suction fittings.
- Inspect suction hose: Look for cracks, pinholes, or loose connections on the hose from the pool to the pump. Replace damaged Intex hoses.
- Examine pump lid O-ring: Remove the strainer cover and inspect the O-ring for cracks, flattening, or dirt. Clean the groove and O-ring, lubricate lightly with pool-safe silicone grease, or replace the pump lid O-ring if damaged.
- Tighten fittings: Hand-tighten all threaded unions and hose clamps on the suction side.
- Bleed air: Use the air release valve on the filter housing to purge trapped air until water flows steadily.
