Pump runs but water in the pool remains cloudy or dirty despite circulation.

Safety first: Unplug the pump before opening the filter housing or changing valve positions.

• Replace filter media: For cartridge systems, install a new Intex filter cartridge. For sand filters, check sand age; replace with new Intex filter sand if older than recommended.
• Check housing seal: Inspect the filter housing O-ring for damage that could allow water to bypass the filter. Replace the filter housing O-ring if needed.
• Verify valve position: On sand filters, ensure the multiport valve is set to FILTER, not BYPASS or RECIRCULATE.
• Increase runtime: Run the pump for longer periods each day (often 8–12 hours) until water clears, in combination with proper chemical treatment.
