Possible Causes
Dirty filter, Partially blocked impeller, Partially closed Jandy valve, Undersized or obstructed suction plumbing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before opening the pump or filter. Relieve filter pressure using the air relief valve.
- Verify filter condition:
- Check the pressure gauge on your Jandy filter. If it is significantly above normal clean pressure, perform a backwash (DE/sand) or hose off cartridges.
- Inspect cartridges for tears or collapsed pleats and replace if damaged.
- Check valve positions:
- Confirm all Jandy NeverLube valves on suction and return lines are fully open.
- Ensure any bypass valves (e.g., heater bypass) are not restricting flow.
- Inspect for impeller blockage:
- Turn off power and remove the pump lid and basket.
- Reach into the volute opening and feel for debris in the impeller eye (leaves, string, pebbles). Remove any obstruction carefully.
- Check for undersized or obstructed suction:
- Look for kinks or collapses in any flexible suction hose (for above-ground setups).
- If suction is weak only from one line (e.g., skimmer), partially close the stronger line to balance flow.
- If LOW FLO remains: The impeller may be worn or the plumbing may be undersized or blocked. Consider having a technician evaluate system design and inspect the impeller and diffuser.
